Sr. Financial Analyst - Thornville, OH

Position Overview

Sr. Financial Analyst is responsible for oversight of financial activities for various corporate departments including monthly journal entries, reconciliations, month end close, and annual budget and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:


  • Oversite of financial activities for various corporate departments.
  • Responsible for the management of corporate financial staff providing overall direction, coordination and evaluation of departments.
  • Review and reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis and confirm supporting documentation.
  • Review financials with department managers addressing any issues.
  • Perform month end closing activities accruals, journal entries, statistical entries, Intercompany reconciliation, Debt statement review, etc .
  • Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts
  • Prepare annual budgets and financial reforecast as required for corporate departments.
  • Use Tax Manager oversees use tax return completion on monthly basis; understand tax laws as they apply to the business.
  • Prepare for and respond to internal and external audit requests.
  • Compile/analyze financial data from multiple sources by way of Excel, Hyperion and Essbase.
  • Ensure adequate controls are in place and maintained to safeguard financial assets. This includes all SOX controls and OMG and Shelly accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare IFRS semi-annual reports.

  • Display a professional and thoughtful attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
  • Strict adherence to Shelly Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Willingness to develop subordinates technical and leadership skills and make recommendations for new job opportunities when appropriate.
  • Effective management of employee performance through coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary.
  • Addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner.
  • Ability to get work done through others using effective delegation, scheduling, and time management practices.


  • Bachelor s degree in accounting/finance required
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience and training in general finance and accounting areas
  • Management experience is preferred
  • Proficient with Windows, Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Must have excellent communication skills including written and verbal
  • Hyperion experience is preferred
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
